For those of you that missed out, last weekend at Traitors Gate was on fire… (metaphorically of course) with the sound of the future!
Friday saw Thurrock Arts Collective bringing some of the freshest raw talent from the front line of culture in the locale, headed up by local superstars in the making ‘Courts’ who did not disappoint and supported by spoken word artist Olmo Lazurus, local spit-meister Jay-See and local son writing duo the Jumeau Twins. It was a seriously great night and really great to see the twins back at Traitors after a long time!
Saturday was also not short of fantastic with headliners ‘Pit Ponies’ (Trashmouth Records) winning over the crowds with their blend of insightful, unabashed lyrical relentlessness and brilliantly catchy tunes with hints of Modest Mouse, Pavement and Pixies to name a few points of reference! Simply fantastic – we can’t wait to get this somewhat excellent band back on the bill in Feb!
This weekend brings more musical onslaught with The Reggae Rocks Project. Shernette May is the founder an lead singer of the Reggae Rocks Project. She has worked with many well known names, and even written for Tina Turner. This is her fusion of Reggae and rock – both big influences in here life. This will be an amazing gig and a one off opportunity to see Reggae Rocks for FREE!!
If this is not what you’re looking for then perhaps Saturday nights offerings will be. This comes in the form of London based record label End of the Trail Records, who have such artists on their books as COQUIN MIGALE and Spears, who’ve both been enjoying lots of mainstream media attention care of the BBC and cool festivals this year. This gig will be showcasing a couple of their up and coming artists – Blush and Less than Worse lead singer Bill Harrison will be doing a set too, supported by local signed artist Ren Stedman.
